Another Cyclist Dies in the Middle of a Race..

Biniam Girmay, our Bini Girmay, won stage 8 of the Grand Boucle 2024. However, our thoughts are with André Drege, Norwegian cyclist of the Coop Repsol team who sadly left us at just 25 years of age during stage 4 of the Tour of Austria 2024 after a crash during the descent of the GrossGlockner. Here is his story, of course, respecting his past and not mentioning doping. Not even Tadej Pogacar is happy on a day like today.

Update : the police investigation has concluded that André died after a fall caused by a bloody puncture between 80 kilometers and 100 kilometers per hour after the statements of the cyclist Jaka Primozic, the only witness of the accident. Rest in peace my friend André.

How lovely that someone speaks out and presents a visual obituary of a person who gave everything for the sport he loved. Nowhere have I seen or heard anyone show their respect in the same way. RIP Andre - may I suggest a memorial wall outside the UCI headquarters with the names of all those cyclists who have given their lives to entertain us. Cycling is the most dangerous of sports. The organisers and money makers have a duty of care that they have ALWAYS neglected.
