:59 I was told the exact opposite by an literary agent at CAA. If your formatting isn't perfect but the story is amazing they will team you (the story writer) up with another writer (a screenwriter) to polish the screenplay. If your story has the CAA agent in tears as she's reading it (this one did) then it doesn't matter if it's not perfectly formatted. It's mandatory if you're trying to get on as a regular writer for a TV show but of course TV & film are completely different in terms of how you structure the story (with act breaks that you have to write in for commercials and you have to do all of this under time constraints).

2:45 A simpler way to put it is that a screenplay is nothing more than a blueprint for a movie - the camera doesn't know what's going on inside the characters head.
