How To Rig Big Highlines: The Static Anchor

Rigging big highlines is something we've recently gotten very good at and I am happy to share my second video on the subject!

In this video I will explain the best method (in my opinion) to haul webbing in order to put up a BIG highline. By BIG I mean anything over 300 meters really. Here we are using this technique to rig a 530 meter record breaking highline with only TWO people on the static anchor. Keep in mind that nobody was holding a ridiculous amount of weight at any point during this setup. If I recall correctly, this setup took us around an hour and a half to pull all of the webbing from the other side.

We made a bit of a mistake when shifting the tension from the tagline to the anchor but luckily it was caught quickly and fixed. Things happen. We're all human so I wanted to show even the things that we do wrong so that you don't make the same mistakes!

Fun Fact! The Sequoia and Yosemite records were broken on the same weekend! The Sequoia record now stands at 530 meters while the Yosemite record stands at a whopping 860 meters!!

- One Gri-Gri
- Taglines (600m paracord, 600m 6mm diamond braid rope)
- Petzl Pro-Traxion
- Handheld Ascenders
- Three Pulleys
- Gloves
- Small Rope to release ascenders

The only negative thing that I can think of is that you will get extremely addicted and won't want to do anything else!
