Embryological Evidence for Evolution

This is essential information which will be applied in a later video. I discuss how organisms develop, and how their developmental pathways can be used to determine their position in a phylogenetic tree of life.

I touch upon this subject lightly, and do not even mention cleavage, fate, symmetry, etc.
A quick glance at the following is recommended:

Even though I had a lot science classes in high school and college, I think that I have learned more about evolution and science from your videos and Thunderf00t's than I ever did in any of the classes I took. Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to teach us!

Thanks for all your hard work producing and uploading this excellent material!

You did a very good job distilling this basic embryology. It brings back much of my old college Intro to Bio.

lots of great detailed information in this vid. Its good to see, even though ill never remember most of it the vast majority of vids on youtube about evolution dont go into any real details.

Keep up the great detailes vids, theyre much appreciated :)

Another great video. I like the mention of us forming posterior-first. First learned about that little feature from AronRa's 10th Foundational Falsehood of Creationism, which goes into greater depth into the tree at motormouth speed.

Oh lord, its the first 1-2 months of zoology all over again (general biology II). Great job on the video, very educational.

Technical yes! but presented in terms that interested laymen can understand....priceless.

Another great video from the Don!

didn't watch the video because i spent hours upon hours studying this for my bio 2 exam last semester

I enjoyed studying this bit of bio because it makes evolution seem so obvious. There's this progression of slightly more and more complex forms emerging due to changes in early development. Those hox genes have done some incredible things

Reading comprehension is defined as the level of understanding of a writing.

Proficient reading depends on the ability to recognize words quickly and effortlessly. If word recognition is difficult, students use too much of their processing capacity to read individual words, which interferes with their ability to comprehend what is read.

@jbz3: I'm a former creationist who studies Spanish if that makes you feel any better. Videos like this really helped me. I started watching them out of curiosity but they made too much sense to deny.

Evidence for evolution aside.. I am learning so much from these videos. Thanks!

Some of it I remember from school ... but I am sure some of it is new after some 30 years :-)

Clearly straight forward explanation. Thanks Don!

If you read the basic time line of occurrences of the big bang theory it is explained in detail how quarks form in pairs with differences in spin to form protons and neutrons as well as Leptons needed for basic hydrogen and helium through nucleosynthesis. Other heaver elements were formed in early giant stars through nuclear fusion as the star burnt fuel. And also the primordial soup was recently recreated by abiogenesis and created 2 basic primitive compositions required to form life.

Even having updated books in the library would help, but everyone in the school would have to share the one book, which would still be a pain.

Another cool idea is having a reliable online textbook that saves the expense of trees just so the information can be easily updated and shared to the most students. I wonder if there's enough of a market for this yet since we're in the digital age now. Hopefully, with the new low cost laptops, this will become more and more viable. Low cost, no paper.

Watching the latest vids from AronRa and DonExodus, I'm thinking I would like nothing better than see the two of them in a live debate with the best the creationists have to offer.

One thing I wish you'd said is that despite this tree structure being invariable in this case, evolution doesn't require that it be so. For example, if it somehow became advantageous for an animal down the line to develop with two germ layers, a mutation might cause this trait to be expressed, and a new species might only have two germ layers. However, this wouldn't disprove evolution; it would simply be an exception to the rule.

Yea, that occurred to me while recording, but the rest of the segment was good, so I decided to keep it :P
