I do want the Ultra specs but the design of the S23 plus.

I decided to go with the S23+. I think you have to ask yourself what your requirements are, with anything you buy really. On some level I do agree that the Ultra is worth the relatively small amount of extra money, but it my case, it's still money that I don't need to spend to get what I want out of a phone. I don't see myself using the S-pen. Like you said, the resolution difference is barely noticeable, if at all. 10x zoom is kind of a nice option but one I can live without. If you don't think you need any of the extra features that the Ultra offers, then why spend more? Don't fall for this car dealership mentality of getting upsold on features you don't need. MKBHD talked about a great example with iPad pricing and how Apple walks you up the price ladder with small little increments, each time convincing you to spend just a little more, until suddenly you've arrived at something way beyond what you originally intended to spend and probably don't actually need.

I could afford the Ultra, and in this one isolated purchase, spending that extra money would not kill me. But think about a lifetime of making decisions like this (oh just a little bit more and I can get this), and it'll add up.

I love it when YouTubers give the answer to their question right in the beginning and then go on to explain. This way, I know where your opinion is and have a better understanding of your explanation as I watch.

I have the Plus and it is absolutely worth it. I didn't want to spend the extra cash for the Ultra, but definitely wanted something larger than the base model. Performance (including gaming), battery life, and display are all outstanding. 512 gb of storage is more than plenty. Now all that said, I don't take many pictures. If you're wanting the best camera out there, the ultra is probably worth the extra money. If you don't, I can't see a big enough difference to justify it.

I recently bought S23+ and it works pretty well. I really do not like that square edge brick. Apart from that zooming photos I really do not miss anything from S23+ truly. Guys please do not hesitate to purchase S23+ and you might feel same way like IPhone because it looks like same appearance rather than that big square box.

Except the 100x zoom feature, I don't miss anything in S23 Plus. It's really good, and for normal photos you can barely tell the difference between the two. The performance and battery life are excellent. And it's the right size for me, plus curve edges clearly rule.

I got the s23 plus. I hear your points in the video, but there are several reasons to choose the s23 plus iver the ultra.
1. I don't like note line phones, I don't want a s pen, and the boxy form factor
2. The screen is too big for one hand usage.

That's pretty much it 😂 but saying it's pointless to buy a s23 plus isn't valid imo. It's the perfect size and I don't like the small size of the s23.

Yes the ultra is a better phone, but that doesn't make the plus useless. Yes the s23 plus is 200$ more (I would say it should 100 more), but a bigger screen, faster charger, more storage, and better battery life is worth it.

Many companies do this actually, this is a marketing strategy. The purpose of s23+ 's existence is to make ultra look more appealing to consumers.

As someone currently holding a 21 ultra that doesn't care about having best camera or S pen and thinks 6.8 is slightly too big, the S23+ seems perfect. You still get the same processor and similar capability as the ultra with a $200 discount. Im definitely leaning towards the plus.

I have a 20fe and am thinking about upgrading. What concerns me about the Ultra is size, weight, and, as you mentioned, feel of the phone. My fear is if I get the Ultra, I will be kicking myself for having spent 200 more for a phone that I can't fit in a pocket and I like carrying around less .

I've considered both of these phones, and the reason I'm leaning towards the s23 plus. I wouldn't really use the s pen and I'm not a fan of boxed screens. I will say I'm surprised battery life is that much better on the ultra. You'd think with the quad hd display on the ultra and the full hd on the s23 plus the battery life would be very similar. I do think most people obsess a bit too much on cameras. How often do people zoom in 30 times? Or actually use 8k? Obviously if you pay more you get a little more. For most regular average consumers, I think it's borderline laughable to say the s23 plus isn't worth it. I'm sure I'm not the only person that wouldn't use the s pen or even care about the slight difference in cameras. And $200 is alot of money to most people. By that logic, the s23 isn't relevant either because it's only $400 less than the ultra. Yet each phone will appeal to some price ranges or preference in design.

On a side note, you said we are in December? It's late February bro lol 🤣

Great vid, very honest and unbiased. Money is not an issue if it's 20% more, I think most people will skip note line until they offer your choice of flat or curved display. Rather than making the s23+ they should make 23U with flat or curved display. And stop with the colour choices because people buy cases to cover the backs..

As I try to figure out which one I want to keep. I like the s23plus it fits in a hand MUCH Better and using your one hand to swipe much easier, battery seems great, the sound on movies is better than the ultra to me. Now the ultra zoom on picture taking is mind blowing, but when will I really care to use it.... once in awhile. And it has 12 ram vs 8 on the plus. But my plus seems great at 8. Do I really need the ultra? It does seem much heavier and wider than my note 8 that I had. According to my scale, my note 8 is 6.6 ounces, the s23plus is 7.0 and the ultra is 8.1 without a case added to it yet. I can feel the weight difference. Even swiping the unlock screen for your password is more effort on the ultra. I cant imagine how I am to run or work out in the gym with this huge ultra. I wish the camera was on the plus then itd be a done deal. But I think Imma have to over look the zoom and go with what makes more sense to my every day comfort and use. And that is the S23plus. I wanted to really like the ultra I do I guess, but its way too big. Period.

The 200 dollar price difference between the s23 plus and the ultra isn't by accident. They are designed and priced in such a way that the buyer can justify spending "slightly more" for a considerably better phone.

The 23+ barely fits my jeans and shorts front pocket while riding my motorcycle. The ultra, with its larger size and sharp corners, would first pierce my pockets, then slip off them while on the bike. That was the deal breaker for me. The only thing I really wanted from the Ultra was the extra ram, but 12gb model is more than $200 difference, and the size is still more important to me. So here's a reason for you.

I just really wish they could put the awesomeness of the ultra into a package the size of the base S23.
I have an S22 Ultra r/n and just pre-ordered the S23+ because I'm sick of how big this phone is. I am nervous that the size of the plus is going to annoy me too. But I wanted more features than the base, so here I am hoping that I didn't choose wrong

Glad to hear about the chip consistency and upgraded heatshrink. My current phone (S21+) was, if im not mistaken, available with 2 different chips on 3 different locations. I have the worst chip on the worst location. My phone is always warm or HOT, in the summer my battery lasts 2 hours tops because of this and overall, my battery life decreased enormously fast. My only doubt now is the 23 plus or ultra, due to regional samsung deals, the price difference would be only €150 with the ultra also coming with buds 2. Thanks for the comparison, you helped me make up my mind and make me consider galaxy S phones again to begin with!

I got the 512Gb S23+. I wanted lots of built in storage but not a big phone. It was the best compromise I could get.

What would you recommend for somebody who has only had every Note model since the 1st (including the exploding one and everything after)

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said why the plus costs so much but doesn't have any of the extras that the utra delivers. I was leaning towards getting the plus even tho I love the ultra but it's just too big for me, so for now am gonna keep going with my s10 😅
