I work at a Walmart DC and we are not getting stuff in we are running out of trailer to unload. And what we're getting is less and less every day. Get prepared for a rough road ahead.

We went through a hurricane and lost power and water for a month. I had 13 cases of water plus 30 gallons in jugs. Didn't last more than two weeks. Why? Nobody in my neighborhood stocked up. It took three days to clear a way out of my neighborhood, and those people left town. Some didn't come back. I had frozen gallon jugs of water and large pieces of meat. Those stayed cold for two weeks. My boat had filled up with water so we used that to flush toilets for a while. Have duct tape. The heat was horrible and we slept with the door open. Duct tape the seam around the screen door to keep the snakes out. Ask me how I know....a water distillery system would have been nice. We have salt water, no fresh water. Overall it sucked. The smell started on day three and by the two week mark my wife was throwing up from the mold smell. We cooked over a fire in the yard and we ate good. Problems: it's dark at night. No street lights. And weirdos appeared every night despite the curfew. Dogs.. people just let their dogs loose before bugging out. One was a pitbull that bit two people at the end of the road. I'd see him at dusk cruising by my house looking. We all slept with firearms. Outside we always had a shotgun with us. I only had an encounter once and the dogs took care of most of it. Without the dogs I never would have known they were there. It sucks. I learned a lot. But I don't want to do it again.

I went homeless on purpose during vacation to see what works. I had my go bag to trade Stuff. They only wanted to trade for flashlights and batteries and antibiotic cream. A hand crank radio with solar and flashlight was to die for. A charger for your cellphone is a plus.

The Seven Social Sins are:

Wealth without work.
Pleasure without conscience.
Knowledge without character.
Commerce without morality.
Science without humanity.
Worship without sacrifice.
Politics without principle.

Ok. You need cotton socks and wool socks. Finnish military trick is first put wool socks and then cotton socks over the wool socks. Cotton socks draw moisture to themselves from your wool socks when you sweat. So now you have always dry feet. You also take your wet cotton socks and put them under your shirt to you shoulders to field dry them and rotate your dried socks back to your feet.

In the wild you can’t imagine the pain of overgrown nails
Pure original listerine not coloured
You can use it against wounds if you still can find some

I ate nothing but those Ramen noodles supplemented with canned food for a few weeks just to see how it would make me feel. I became extremely lethargic, sick and constipated. Not recommended.

In the Bosnian War, when it started, everything disappeared in the shops in seven days. Because you are thinking of buying, buy now because if it comes to SHTF, YOU WILL NOT HAVE TIME to buy anything.

Be careful when buying wool socks. I've seen socks at Costco labeled "Merino Wool Socks" that were actually less than 20% wool by content. Never buy a wool sock that is less than 50% wool IMO.

Salt is actually very important with a shtf... simple when you do more activities you sweat, and salt is a main thing you lose in a said time

A good quality raw honey is an ABSOLUTE essential, as it it one of the most efficient anti-bacterial agents on this planet. On contact with moisture (ie. open wound) it forms a natural hydrogen peroxide, which is a natural antiseptic. A little honey on an Elastoplast strip or bandage, applied to a wound, will go a long way in infection control.

The thing I saw that he missed was a new toilet plunger, and a tote to do laundry, Rope and clothes pins to dry the clothes. You can pick up some of it up at the Dollerama.

WORK BOOTS-In a SHTF scenario, plan on walking through dangerous areas that are covered with broken glass, rusty nails, etc. Rubber boots are great BUT work boots & socks are also a necessity.

When buying canned foods, avoid the flip-top cans if at all possible. Moisture is able to seep in the seam and cause rust. Cans that need a can opener are much better. Buy a couple of can openers.
