Great car if you are mechanically inclined and willing to work on it yourself. I bought 2 b5 s4's and went stage 3 for ~3500$ all together. All the work I did myself (manual swap etc). Its almost dialed in, AFR is not stoich yet which is my last issue!

400hp B5 s4 is and has been my first car and only car for the last 3 years, the worst issue I’ve had was having to do the rear wheel bearings… has never broken down or had any engine issues

Its actually a fantastic car ..if ur gettin 1 get 1 thts well maintained u wont regret it...2.7 bulletproof well built ..trans super solid ..i currently hav 220k miles pushing 420 whp on f21s

Had my b5 for 15 years now, service it like ot calls for. Preventive maintenance and its a good car fr. And the bodies hold up through the years. My a4 is a 97...in indiana, the salt belt and there no rust. They put that paint on thick.

Had a b5 s4 as my first car at 18 and owned it for 9 years. As long as you keep up on maintenance they’re pretty solid. Mine went from being stock all the way up to a stage 3 build on k24s. It was surprisingly the most reliable after going bigger turbo, but a lot of that had to do with doing all preventative maintenance while the engine was out.

Okay so can somebody with a brain help me. I'm 19 and I've had a good reliable car for the last 3 years. These have been my dream car for around the same 3 years. Im financially stable living alone currently. Is the overwhelming doom of these cars costing a lot to fix, worth the fun it brings?

There is a 2001 s4 with 250 000km (155000 miles), near me. I love everything about cars and im more than willing to fix it when it inevitably breaks. Is this a bad option for me? Considering I'm relatively young. I want to get some sporty tunable car. Opinions from anyone are welcome. If you've owned a b5 s4 that's even better. Thanks

The problem with these cars are the stock turbos will blow up before 80k and if your stage 2 before 40k. You have to pull the engine out to replace them which is a $5, 000 repair bill. Best thing to do is upgrade to the KO4 turbos which are more reliable. Keep up with the maintenance change all the gaskets and the tie rods before they seize up.

Had a b5 s4 and a b5 a4 1.8t aeb and both of those cars drove over 200k miles no issues. Love the B5 - way better than any of the new automatic audi bs

In us maybe idek, but in EU, if you get the 1.8T version, that thing is mad reliable, it’s a glitch in therm of hp. Mine is litterally stock with a modified Intercooler, ECU, 731cc injec and 250LPH fuel pump, I obtained 300hp and it’s still reliable
