An Interview with Juliette Binoche

Among actresses (let alone French actresses), Juliette Binoche has carved out a singular place for herself in our contemporary cinematic landscape. She has appeared in over seventy films, won numerous awards, and the international roster of directors with whom she has worked is staggering, from Abbas Kiarostami and Krzysztof Kieślowski to Lasse Hallström and David Cronenberg. Equally at ease in both French and English language roles and unafraid of shunning the mainstream (she turned town Steven Spielberg’s offer for a role in Jurassic Park), Binoche continues to build an impressive and multifaceted body of work. In anticipation of the actress’s latest film, Claire Denis's Let the Sunshine In, Fandor sat down with Binoche to discuss everything from her new role and past collaborations to the nature of being a woman in the film industry, and the importance of living in the moment. saw let the sunshine in three days ago and was really glad i did (it was my last film on belgrade film festival and was a last minute decision haha) i expected a smart feel good comedy and got more than that - and she is fantastic! the ending scene is really really good! kinda makes me feel sad for laughing but its the only choice i had during some of the moments in the movie
