This video shares my views on the recent Bet365 sports betting fraud case. Using multiple accounts for matched betting is against sports betting company's terms, but doesn't appear to be illegal so there must have been more going on here. The owner of bet 365 should be in jail to it’s ok for her to take home hundreds of millions a year but if a punter wins regularly they are banned

A private company shouldn’t be allowed to seek the locking up of citizens. Very dangerous

The whole legal system stinks. The fact he got 5 years for a money crime is sickening. Meanwhile sexual and violent offenders, if they even get prosecuted, serve mere months or even get community service and suspended sentences. It really shows what the lawmakers and judges actually care about. It's not justice.

When I did jury duty I was amazed at how stupid some of the jurors were. Some of them had the IQ of a cabbage, and could not follow a simple case in any meaningful way. So I'm not surprised what happened to this guy at all.

It's 25% of what Coates earns in a day not what Bet365 take a day

The custodial sentence was for mortgage fraud (from Santander).
The Bet365 stuff ended up being a suspended sentence.

Does the UK have what's called "discovery" in your court system?

In the United States, this man's attorneys could file a motion for discovery where they try to find evidence that Bet365 is being selective in cases like this and not enforcing their policy across the board.

I am glad I got over my gambling addiction because the companies really are insanely predatory with their tactics to retain you. You get drip fed dopamine tactically to keep you returning endlessly.

they wouldn't give me a cashout with man city being the last game for the win on an accumulator for £129k kept saying no Internet access blah blah city went 1 nil up still nothing ended up drawing in the end.
then weeks later I had a bet for £83k and got an email saying due to me already knowing the outcome of the game they retracted 4 of the bets, how tf can I know the outcome of a game that was 2 days away 😲 absolute joke of a company

You are spot on, when I first read this it was my guess it was Santandar who pushed for this to go court due to the fraudulent charge backs, it would be impossible for a betting company to take someone to court for bonus abuse or multi accounting alone because in the eyes of the law it isnt actually illegal, but it was handy to spin it that way to act as a deterrent for other punters trying to do the same in the future

That is a disgrace he got that many years . Not even worthy of jail time. Only people in jail should be bet 365 CEO’s

Ive said it many times, Betting Firms should not be allowed to ban customers just because they are big winners. These Firms are more than happy to let someone lose big money regularly, they should not have the ability to limit or close accounts because someone is winning.
The UK government is not interested in the slightest. If a rule was brought in to stop the practice of limiting or banning customers and if the Firms broke the rules there would be severe penalties and possible not allowing them to be available in UK it would be interesting.

Problem is as well. Big company's such as 365 have lots of dough to pay for barristers and high end lawyers.
They basically made an example of him to discourage multiple accounting and most probably cost them more than the man won in lawyers fees.
All bookies are bent as a bishops hook. They love the addicts who's lives are ruined on a daily basis but never ever take any responsibility properly.
I've known mates who have had a lot if money from parents dying and blew the lot on gambling on the phone. Non warning or advice from the bookies just a disclaimer in their small text regarding gambling addiction .
They simply do not care.
It's like buying a pack of cigs with the warning on. We know the risks.
Another thing I find with addicted gamblers, a lot do it while on the sniff or drunk.
It's very sad.

People gotta campaign to get this man out of jail.

It is not fair to cage a human for years for petty crimes against giant greedy companies.

Taking his money away would be enough of a punishment, given that he still put tim and effort into it, and if all he did was multi accounting, then zero punishment at all.

this is absolutely disgusting by all means i and many friends have had their accounts barred. the legal system needs to seriously be adjusted to make sure that gambling companies are only allowed to open to take bets from everyone. THIS IS DISGUSTING STAY AWAY FROM BET 365

I won nearly £16k on a football bet with only £15 luckily got my money from bet365 but few days after they closed my account without any notice or any reason. Is unbelievable the double standards this cowboys practice they allow people to be addicted to gambling and take money from their customers without any problems but it seems to be when someone wins they will do whatever it takes for finding ways not to pay out.Insane

I won a poker tourney on bet365 and the money never went into my account. I emailed them and they tried telling me I won the money and then lost it…after some back and forth and me getting quite mad eventually they just deleted my account.

They're all scumbags. A mate of mine worked for Bet 365 as part of gambling aware. He notice a customer was betting large amounts over a period of time. He was about to contact him to see if all was ok. When his supervisor questioned him on what he was doing. He explained the situation and his supervisor said, leave it until Monday. It's Grand National weekend and winked.

Its not just gambling. I find the UK as a whole will try to criminalise any wageslave that's able to make a bit of extra money.
