Thank you for who you are and your family. As a retired public school teacher, I enjoy your style of sharing information and enjoy learning from you and your peers. It's "fun" to be challenged and learn of new thoughts.

In regards to Siletzia we know there is at least some way which Ocean Island Basalt like magmas similar to those associated with deep lower mantle upwelling sourced hotspot magma enriched in depleted mafic elements/isotopes are getting into Cascade stratovolcanoes, particularly Mt St. Helens but it also seems it might be present within some other cascade volcanoes in Southern Washington and northern Oregon. Of course the OIB signature is one of the 3 types of Cascade source melts so the Siletzia material is probably coming from the mantle wedge and or lower crust. Given Siletzia is/was pulled into the subduction zone and jammed We probably should geophysically expect Siletzia to have become the bulk of the lower crust and mantle wedge after jamming the old subduction zone so if it didn't detach completely it would be very deep i.e. lower crust or mantle wedge.

If the OIB signature isn't coming from a Siletzia basement then things will be interesting as that OIB signature lavas rich in what are typically depleted elements/isotopes have to be coming from somewhere and deep lower mantle fed upwellings or materials directly derived from these plumes are the only known source.

Hello Nick, so happy to hear your lady is recovering.

The maps totally blew my mind, especially the pattern around the GR volcano. Pinegrass is surrounded by grello?! What a huge clue about the basement! This is incredible stuff Nick. I'm glad you're finally getting to sit down and learn this and grateful you're teaching us along the way. Can't wait to catch up!

Definitely feel your joy….and loved the Gary Paull photos for the Swauk/Chuckanut formation. Finally now understand. I am so happy for you and your family with Liz’s progress. The best news ever.

Yes Nick, this last career of mine is a great joy. And I am inspired by your enthusiasm and curiousity. Who knew I would be reading scholastic articles after graduating in 1977. Geology, endemic plants of the Mariana Islands, Reforestation practices, watersheds, agriculture - permaculture.

Great to see you back Nick, and especially glad to hear the excellent progress your dear wife Liz is making - very encouraging news. Also excellent photos from Gary that illustrate this piece

Got to watch an hour and 15 live and then catch up for the rest of it with "X 1.5 speed" once my work meeting was over. So glad to have you back, to know that Liz is on the mend and that our prayers/good thoughts/healing feelings all made it through. This one was pretty interesting in all the various ways we can get that melange/Silezia/grellow mix through the area of interest.

Let's not forget, a massive portion of Siletzia went north into Alaska. It seems unlikely much was remaining to extend under the Cascades as you desire.
