How does a non-profit recording studio work?

Today, Brian is visiting The Record Co., a non-profit recording studio in the Boston Area to check out their facilities.

This is what we want to be doing here in Kansas City. We are trying to open a facility that is a low cost or no cost creative space for making or collaborating visual and/ or auditory art. Good job Lewitt for promoting this organization.

Great video! Boston born and raised. I do freelance engineering here, while my current recording studio is being built. The different facilities are excellent in build and quality - I just love the vibe of this place. I didn't know that they had Lewitt mics, I usually bring my Neumann U 87, but during my next session there, I'll be sure to request one!

Love the mission and the fact that there is so much cool, quality gear (and people) available.

I used to pitch this idea in music business classes in college and even professors (retired musicians/industry people) would tell me it wasn't realistic--inspiring to see people who care about making music creation accessible and community oriented and are making it happen!

This is an awesome idea! Would love to open one near where I live if I ever get the opportunity. Making music with this kind of gear at an affordable price is pretty hard to do.
