“About from me to that wall” with no hesitation, it’s as if it was yesterday to him. Bless him

We’ve got less than 15 years left with most of the WW2 vets that are still alive. That’s so damn sad.

One of the soldiers in the photo attended my local highschool. They renamed a park nearby to honor him. His name was Harlon Block.

More of these type of interviews need to be done - we're losing these heroes far too quickly and these stories need to be told. Thanks for having this man on Sean - truly inspiring!!!

What a lot of people don’t know is that the famous photo taken by Joe Rosenthal is actually a reenactment. The original flag raising was done with a much smaller flag and pipe, and was raised before even the fighting was finished.

“They fought TWICE as Hard!” The way he says it sounds like he has respect for their warrior spirit

I really hope these veterans, the ones who lived and the few that remain, know they truly are heroes who changed the course of history.

I had the opportunity to see this gentleman speak at Hill AFB on the 60 something anniversary of Iwo Jima and he told this story. Gave me goosebumps then and does again now😇

The name Ira Hayes is burned in my brain. One of the men who had a hand in that flag raising. I read flags of our fathers 15 years ago for school and I still randomly think of that name

I could just listen to this man talk about his experiences for hours

That man was not telling a story. He was reliving history you can hear the details and description so vivid makes you feel like you were also there.
Thank you for your service sir ❤

Wow, i can only imagine how they felt when that flag got raised. I hardly ever get emotional, but this story made me tear up.

Incredible. We’re so lucky to have some of the survivors still here to share these stories. Must’ve been a beautiful sight that day.
