How to Clean, Prepare & Eat Conch! [Viva Frei Cooking Vlog]

This was an absolute first for me. The seafood store only rarely gets live conch, and today I was lucky enough to be there in time. So I picked one up. It was delightfully weird to prepare, cook and eat... The meat is incredibly tough and needs to be braised for hours to soften it up. And getting it out of the shell was an adventure in itself. I love the end: don't be afraid to come out of your shell. This video demonstrates precisely why one should stay in the shell. If you come out, a giant will boil you alive with random veggies, then you'll be eaten piece by piece. 😱😱😱😱

Its very similar taste and texture to abalone, a prized and expensive delicacy in asian cuisine, braise it a few hours longer. Conch is an budget alternative and tastes great braised and sliced or cold cut.
