I am not a supporter of this Prime Minister, and as a staunch Monarchist, I was pleasantly surprised at the respect and grace shown in the Prime Minister’s statement.

Thankyou Anthony from a Greens member. Well done!!!! my 1st 24 years were growing up in England and apart from the family I have created, all my family are in England (1 cousin in Sweden). We grew up refighting Zulu wars inspired by the movie Zulu, the Napoleonic Wars, WW1 and 2, and all the old stuff, Romans, William the Bastard genocidal maniac (QE2's relative), Spanish Armarda and Empire etc.

My mother emigrated to Oz as a 10 pound pom in 1952. She worked for the ABC and the Snowy Scheme as a secretary (2 jobs at once, don't ask how that worked). She was loneley in Oz. When the king died the ABC staff in Melbourne, where she worked, gave Mum some headphoes and they patched her into the kings funeral live. They bounced the radio waves off the ionosphere to communicate around the world before satellites and optic fibres. This all made her very home sick. She went back to the UK, NW London, South Ruislip/Northolt, where the Queens body lands on its journey from Scotland and the diplmats etc arrive and I assume Anthony, as it goes. Her Dad entered a competition to get good seats for the coranation of QE2. He won. He and Mum went, their seats were right behind Walt Dysney during the coronation. Mum always loved, British history, Royalty the pomp and ceremony etc. She died at 93 last February.

I emigrated to Oz as a geologist to look for oil and gas many years ago (81). I still love the UK, its history as much as I now love Australia and its history. All this made me, eg aa, for good and ill. One way and another QE2 is a part of that and I am sad to see her go, although I would not wish her to suffer.

Lets together, do all that history, QE2 justice by forging a wonderful future for us all.
