In this chemistry tutorial video, we describe the correct way one prepares a burette, with the intention to perform a titration laboratory experiment. This video follows the video titled “How to clean Analytical Glassware”. This video is Part 3 of 5 that describes the method on how to prepare and perform titration experiments.
This video was made by postgraduate students focused on promoting science to the youth through interactive activities and performing experimental demonstrations. They form part of the "WHIZZBANG TEAM" at the School of Chemistry: Copyright: University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

The demonstrators are very clear and well prepared. Thank you for these videos...

Aside from the clear demonstration and impressive voice over, the background music is so lit.
It perfectly suits the video content. Thanks Wits University Official!

Good video…there is one issue: you should lower the burette to eye level when loading so you aren’t pouring from a height. You can place it at the edge of the lab bench and lower it on the burette clamp. You can raise it once loaded.

Hello! Why should we not empty the burette when dispensing?

Why should meniscus be between 0 and 2 mL

I don't know why but my burette is leaking from the tap side. I always have to read the burette just after getting the result. And there will be errors in calculation. Thankfully they said they will replace it with a good one for exams.

Good job, but a little disappointed. Always use a buret clamp, and always fill at waste level by taking the buret out of the buret clamp, never fill above your head to prevent any potential accident having chemical solution getting into your eye.
