Cecile Hanson and countless Duwamish Tribal Members are direct descendants of Chief Stealth. The Duwamish Long House is on the land that was theirs before settlers claimed the 54 thousand acres that is now Seattle. It's no doubt that every Coast Salish tribe has Members that have Duwamish. But fact of the matter is the Duwamish are still here and still fighting for their rights they were promised in the 1855 treaty that was signed my their chief, Chief Stealth. Muckleshoot are already federally recognized and their reservation and casinos reside in the Auburn valley. Duwamish Chair Cecile Hanson has been fighting for and advocating for the Duwamish people since 1974, not untill last year when the duwamish took their fight public and filed a lawsuit against the federal government is when the Muckleshoot started a public smear campaign against the Duwamish people. The previous 40 plus years and beyond they never claimed to be Duwamish. If they truly do have Duwamish descendancy then they would be in support of the Duwamish tribe being federally recognized. Hate and greed will not help build up the indigenous community in our Salish sea region.

You're both duwamish. This is legalese inter tribal conflict. They share your same ancestors. Why oppose sovereignty for fellow duwamish?
