At locals whenever me or my friends lose a round we actually discuss how we misplayed and what we could’ve done differently

For net decking, remember that Pablo Picasso said “Good artists borrow, great artists steal” and this applies for net decking. It’s ok to copy a deck card for card. And remember that you can edit it as you go.

My friend is the one who has always been more interested in yugioh than me and in the past couple of years we've gotten back into it. He used the OP Salamangreat deck before most of that deck got limited or banned sometime last year... now he uses a Dino True King deck. I really grew to liking the Endymion Pendulum structure deck and the pendulum mechanics. I still like to use Endymion, but it has had a face lift especially since we've started using the dueling book website so we have access to every card we could ever want and my deck isn't being hindered since we didn't have the mythical beasts or any of the REALLY good cards and extra deck cards that can make Endymion decently good.

This past month I've gotten back into yugioh since that friend had me watch your Progression series. We are actually going to be doing one of our own and hopefully getting a couple other friends who don't really know yugioh to do it because it's starting from the basic of basics and there won't be as much confusion for them to learn it. But in the past couple weeks I've been fine tuning my Endymion deck to try and out his Dino True King deck. And I've built my deck for going first or second so even if he goes first and uses Lost World to fill my board with tokens, I can link summon those tokens into other things and get a free link 4 on the field. And if I go first, my end board would be perfect if I can get the boss Endymion, Jackal King, Servant, Citadel, Prohibition, Magical Abductor as pendulum, Mythical Institution, and a card in hand so I can use Servant's effect on opponent's turn to discard and give my field spell counters and be able to use Jackal King's effect to stop a monster effect and if needed Endymion's effect to pop a spell or trap. The best thing I just found out about both of those cards, is their once per turn effects are soft, so if I have multiple copies on the field, they can be used twice!

Netdecking is a double-edged sword since decks on the internet tend to be adapted to tournament meta which may differ from your locals, so you might end up using cards that only work against the top tier decks.

For example if in your locals there aren't any combo decks like adamancipator, dinos or eldlich combo it makes no sense to copy lists that you find online. Netdecking is a good tool to start forming the core of your deck but I am tired of people at my locals that just copy a deck online but have no idea of the reason behind different card choices.

I'm with you on the net decking.
It's a great place to START learning how a deck works.
But I don't think that one should keep it as is. They should adapt to their environment.

1. Read the cards
2. Look at every detail of the field: Hand size, grave, field, cards in deck...
3. Watch other people’s games and think about what you would have done otherwise
4. Record your own games to learn from them
5. Go to tournaments

A good tip that I learned is define what your playstyle is for example I’m an aggressive and want to constantly applying pressure through card advantages by using my opponents cards as fuel but others could be like combo, control, or aggro style of player these are the most common play styles I see in games of tournaments and locals

I like how the net decking tip was presented. Sure, you can get criticized for not being “original, ” but it at least gives you a good idea on why the deck was made the way it was. You can play the deck yourself and not like some of the additions, so you’re free to make your own changes depending on your playstyle.

I looked at your and TeamSamuraiX’s deck profiles on the $30 Shaddoll deck and incorporated the best options into my own draft. I play tested it with some friends and they gave more feedback on how to make it better.

I don't play Yugioh physically anymore, but when I did (a couple years back) there was a group of guys at the locals I played at that really helped me get into the competitive mindset. I remember playing the in the final round of swiss against one of my mentors one day and he said something along the lines of "your progress as a player has impressed a lot of us." I didn't win that match, and he told me exactly why I didn't win (shotgunned a handtrap too quickly). I still ended up in the top 4 of that tournament, and I was super proud of myself. I miss those guys, that shop, and all that, but unfortunately I don't live around there anymore, and driving out there would be too much of a hassle.
