I watched firemen have to dig kids out of holes on the beach. It's probably the very worst place to ever dig a hole.
Stick to digging holes in granite kids, it's safer.

So dangerous. Please do not do this to a shoreline. It is highly unstable and when it is left behind it can wreak havoc on the environment.
I grew up near the beach and understand the temptation to dig but a small amount of sand disruption is all one needs for creative play.
