Parasite isn’t a correct term. There are many things about this relationship which show it is not parasitic. Mutualism would be the form of symbiosis that exists between a mother and her preborn child. First, the fetus is the same type of organism as the mother. Parasites are different organisms which latch on to another species, causing it harm.

Parasite is very much the wrong word scientifically lmao Especially because each human is quite literally an offshoot of its mother. Yes, our father's cells are needed to start the process, but we start out as part of our mother that starta groeing into something new as soon as our father's genetic material is incorporated. We don't invade our mothers like he said. Sure, the sperm cells invade our mothers, but the egg cells were already here and part of our mothers. And we do eventually leave naturally and become capable of benefitting our mothers, again unlike a parasite. A parasite is an entirely foreign creature that has ONLY negative effects on the host and only positive effects for itself from feeding on the host. Mother and child might technically be a form of symbiosis, although that still doesn't sound right. And if it is, it's definitely commensalistic or mutualistic. I mean, your organs aren't considered parasites just because they use your resources since they also give back. Children also give back, potentially A LOT. Like if you get deathly sick one day and have children, you have several organ, blood, etc. donors. Not to mention the emptional support, help lifting heavy things, etc. That's not how parasites work.

*edit* I've since learned that the placenta is an organ made from both the mother's and child's cells, which obviously cannot be done by a parasite. Some cultures throughout history even believed the placenta had its own spirit/soul because of that. My reasoning is even more ironclad than I then realized.

Parasites do not provide a benefit to the host species. Reproduction is a benefit and thisnis why babies of any species are not a parasite.

Si pero' il modello è incompleto perche' a partire dall'ombelico interno ci sono anche le due arterie ombelicali che collegano l'ombelico e le fosse iliache destra e sinistra, oltre alla vena ombelicale che diventa legamento rotondo che ancora il fegato ed arriva fino al cuore e tali vasi vengono in automatico chiusi dopo il taglio del cordone ombelicale, ci vuole circa un anno affinche' una cicatrice ombelicale si assesti definitivamente.
