Calculating Total Sum from Values in an Array for a Shopping Cart in JavaScript

Consider you're building a shopping cart in JavaScript or ReactJS. When a user adds products to the cart and goes to the cart page, it should display the total price of the items they're ordering. In this tutorial, we'll learn how to calculate the total price of items from both an array and an array of objects using JavaScript.

We'll start by creating an array object containing service names and their prices. First, we declare a variable total initialized with a value of 0 to represent the total price. Then, we iterate through the array object using the forEach method.

Another method to calculate the total from an array is using the reduce method.

We can use the JavaScript reduce method to calculate the sum of numbers in an array. While this is suitable for arrays, in our case, we have an array of objects. However, we can still calculate the sum of values/numbers in an array of objects.

In this example, the total serves as an accumulator with an initial value of 0. Each value from the array will be added to the accumulator to give us the total number. This is how you can calculate the sum of all values from an array or an array object easily.
