To celebrate tonight being a full moon 🌕 (October 17th, 2024), I’ve created a real sleep-inducing soundscape that captures the moon’s deep connection with rest and relaxation. From its gravitational pull creating the soothing lapping of tides, to its influence on the behaviour of animals and insects, the full moon has a powerful effect on the natural world—and its soundscape.
So, to create an authentic 'Full Moon Noise', I turned once again, to artificial intelligence for inspiration. Here’s what it suggested (and even added some interesting subheadings):
The Rhythmic Tide (Ocean’s Response)
A soft, rhythmic sound of gentle waves, mimicking the ocean’s ebb and flow under the moon’s pull. It’s soothing and cyclical, reflecting the moon’s influence on the tides.
The Pure Tone (The Moon’s Voice)
A clear, steady note, like a tuning fork in space. This pure tone represents the moon’s serene, constant presence, a simple yet celestial sound floating above the Earth.
The Base Hum (Gravity’s Pulse)
A low, resonant hum, like distant thunder or a deep vibration. It symbolizes the moon’s gravitational force—subtle, powerful, and ever-present.
The Earth’s Exhale (Cosmic Wind)
A deep, textured sound like the soft rustling of a cosmic wind. It’s the universe breathing, wrapping the Earth and moon in a warm, continuous noise, grounding and timeless.
Armed with this inspiration, I took my MIDI keyboard, fabric-scratching and straw-blowing audio, and some field recordings of the ocean. After carefully editing, stretching, and filtering these sounds, I mixed and blended it into the soothing soundscape you’ll hear tonight. The pure tone is a 432Hz healing tone, designed to help with physical healing, mixed with a C major tone.
So, enough from me. Why don't you allow the full moon’s gravitational pull to lower your heavy eyelids and guide you into restful sleep 😴😴
