Prices need to come down on kits for it to really catch on. I live in way northern mi we have 4ft plus of snow now and I only know a few people with kits. We all want one just to much money still.

I would go away from what´s said in this video and recommend running a longer track if you´re on the lower side of power, 125 (2 stroke)/250 (4 stroke) works pretty good with 137" with 2" paddle. The reason for this is that the lower power often comes with lighter weight and therefor a bigger area to distribute the weight equals less pressure. As this makes the bike float easier and therefor you´ll have a harder time getting stuck. So instead of having the need for a really high gearing like you would have to use with a shorter track to stay floating, instead you can gear it down which in the situation that you would get stuck or try to get through tight forest will make the bike less likely to stall. so optimal would be a 129/137" with the track tensioner pretty far in so the track can roll easily.
For 250/300/500 (2 stroke) 350/450/500 (4 stroke) you can run any track you want as the power from the engine can pull you out of situations a smaller bike would stall in. Usually, a smaller track is funnier on a bigger bike as it feels more nimble, but it will be harder to ride in deeper snow so if you´re mostly going to ride in deep powder go for the longer tracks. I started out on a exc 125 with a 137" 2" timbersled copy and it was pretty hard as it maxed out at 44 mph but it did go everywhere my friends sleds could, the 300i i ride now has a 120" MH ST and it´s a really big differnce as it digs more but is a lote more fun to ride.

Short note: This is only my experience so if you´re looking for a track visit a forum and ask there too see what everyone else think and not just me ;)

Had to build My own fit kit for my xr650r. When I emailed they said the bike didn't have the power to pull their kit if these guys actually knew anything about bikes they would realize that a 650r still out punches a brand new 450 by a long shot I have to be careful climbing anything too steep because it will just start to dig hard if I get after it too much torque for the paddles on the track

Do you have to have an engine blanket? The only ones I can find are expensive. Like is it absolutely necessary? Will it hurt my bike if I don’t? I am getting a temperature gauge.

I rode all last year on my 250cc bike. Geared the front sprocket down to 12 anywhere I it wasn't a timbersled track. I was rocking a under the bike like a real dirt bike. Ohlins inch thing to a dirt bike. Timbersled cant touch that setup.

I ride a 501. It's fast, got tons of low end torque. And it gets the job done. Tons of power and light. Almost too much power. Almost

do you think that a 125 two-stroke would work

Speaking from experience; A 250 will work but a 450 with fuel injection will be way more fun and way more reliable.

Pure curiosity. Would it fit on a DR650?

Hi Brett, Do you know if Timbersled will still offer parts for the 2014/15/16 kits? On the website that has all been removed. Really sad if they will only support the ARO... Thanks!
