When we hear the word "goodness," we often try to define it by our own standards. However, in Greek, goodness means "to do good," and it’s more than just an action—it’s an attitude and an attribute that reflects God's nature. Only God can set the true standard of goodness because He is good. In Week 3 of the Receipts Sermon Series, Pastor Mike teaches that our goodness is the evidence of a relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. My sermon notes for "Receipts// oh my goddess" week 3:

1.) Goodness must be produced in us in order for it to flow from us

2.) Goodness: GRK- Agathōsynē: to do good, refers to a moral and spiritual goodness, characterized by generous and virtuous heart. How much good do you do? Does your goodness reflect God's goodness?

3.) Only God can set the standard of good. If you are the one that's defining what is good, it may not be good to begin with. God's standard is good

4.) Greatness is reversed only for God. You can't handle the glory that comes with greatness

5.)greatness enlarges people's view of you. Goodness enlarges people's view of God

6.) What if the goal is no longer greatness, but goodness?

7.) Your goodness is what's going to define your life

8.) Goodness is not your nature, but it's necessary. Your goodness is the receipt of a relationship with God through the Holy Spirit

9.) Not doing bad is not the same as doing good

How to walk out goodness?:(1) goodness is an action(the move). Have you decided that you will do good works? What's good have you decided to do in your heart?

(2) Goodness is an attitude( The motive). If you have experienced the goodness of God, give it away

(3) goodness is an attribute (The MO)
