Great idea! I've tried to become more discerning as well, telling myself to use the library for books I'm not sure about, or first in series I'm not sure I'll love. Reading the beginnings is an awesome idea as well, because if you are unsure, you can just keep reading the whole thing without spending a dime.

Awesome idea!!!! I love this. I enjoy Nora Roberts, but I LOVE her books writing as JD Robb. They are police/murder/suspense, and they follow character and relationship progressions from one book to the next. They can all be read separately, but I have enjoyed them a lot more by reading them in order. Enjoy!!! Xoxo

This is a great idea! I need to utilize my library more, period.
That being said, I am a big Nora Roberts fan. Her books keep me connected to my mom, who I lost 13 years ago. I have not read Year One yet, though I have it sitting on my shelf. With her trilogies I tend to wait until all 3 are out so that I can read them in one go. However, I have not been able to get into her J.D. Robb books. I've read a few but never continued; though that was over a decade ago.

This is a great idea. I might steal it for myself but instead do a try it before you add it. I'm always adding stuff to my TBR which is never ending. I should check out a few from my library to see if it's something I'm willing to invest my reading time into.

You could search title online on amazon and look inside. It usually lets you read the first chapter to see if you like it too. I have Year one on m’y kindle haven’t started it yet.

I enjoyed this very much. I borrow from my library more than I buy so it's right up my alley anyway - I do get caught up in cover buys and then the book is a dud so that's always a letdown.

I knew you would love Year One by Nora Roberts! I thought it was great now we have to wait for book 2. I always check out the library first. I haven't tried any of the others you mentioned. I just started Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough, interesting! Take care, Rochelle

I like the idea of this series. Especially for hyped new releases. I just decided to dnf Uncommon Type. At least for now.
