Yes, I have been bombarded by YouTube videos on watercolour, but I have been painting in watercolour for 64 years, and when I was 7, I had a Reeves watercolour tin. The best way to learn is trial and error, with some luck. Enjoy your mistakes! PS I love your approach to watercolour.

"Focus on what truly matters, your connection to the art and the joy it brings to you". This is my BIGGEST takeaway. Thank you for this timely and potent reminder. 🙏🏽🥰💖✨💖✨💖💐

I’ve learned to just go with the flow, sometimes the colour falls on the paper differently than what I had it mind making the painting better, less controlled and more realistic. I’ve also learned to not show every painting I make to someone else, I’m still in a learning process and will probably always be so having non-painters comment my work can set me back with too high expectations from others instead of just doing what I enjoy, good or less good work. It’s still art and that’s what matters.

i too watch a lot of tutorials. then i go back and make the same crap ☺ but the reason i do it again and again is because i love seeing all that colour on a page in some form - you're absolutely right. art is about how you feel. oh and i love that you painted that traditional Indian 'achaar martabaan'! ☺☺

Three years ago I picked up a brush and the first You Tube video I found on watercolor painting was yours, You gave me a wonderful start on my painting journey and advised me to just paint and enjoy it. I have done that and still look forward to painting every single day for hours. Thank you!!!

I love your technique of working with watercolors. I am trying to work on this. But I don't know your language. It would be great if you could please add Turkish subtitles. Greetings from Türkiye 🇹🇷😊

Watercolours need both a level of study of fine arts as well as constant practice. I'd say it's one of the hardest mediums, though people consider oils to be the hardest. I can make a perfect lifelike painting with oils or acrylics over some time as I have the liberty to let it dry and redo things over it. But in watercolours, every stroke is a catalyst to the final outcome. And if a person thinks a lot during painting with watercolours, it id not going to come well. But if a person who practices daily and his muscle memory guides his strokes, the painting will be satisfactory or even good. People will have to practice a lot with shading pencils to learn values, develop muscle memory, colour mixing to be able to paint well with watercolours.
