I actually think, despite my stance on landfills, them burning it is creating an artificial, stronger land. Sort of like what happens in a controlled burn where the fire is used for good.

Places in the US are built on top of landfills, and while it isnt the greatest option, these people have NO option, and with people that have no other real option, I think its sort of smart that the land can be later used to build a school or residential area as long as toxic chemicals arent seeping through (like what happened at love canal)

Maldives can build at least 300 sq km area just near their capital around 200 km because of many of island just 5 to 10 meter under sea
