Philippine civilian convoy sails toward disputed shoal in South China Sea

China and the Philippines have been embroiled in another heated standoff over competing claims in the South China Sea, after a Philippine convoy sailed towards the Scarborough Shoal. The group Atin Ito -- which means "this is ours" in Tagalog -- was on a mission to distribute provisions to Philippine fishermen, as well as to assert their rights in the disputed waterway. The effort was led by five commercial vessels, with about 200 volunteers, foreign observers and journalists on board. Beijing has accused Manila of "deliberately stirring up trouble", and demanded it to stop the "provocations".
