Ak Xolotl is a roguelike twin-stick shooter. You play as a cute but deadly Axolotl, rolling through randomly generated levels, filled with gun-wielding animals, and in between runs, you look after your little Axlotl babies. It certainly isn’t lacking any personality but will it hook you in with that one more run loop?

when it comes to making a truly good roguelike, good gameplay is only half the equation. secrets, challenges and unlocks are the other half. people only play a game like Enter The Gungeon to BEAT IT until they beat it. what KEEPS them playing it is finding all the secrets that unlock more weapons, more characters, alternate character skins, secret bosses, harder bosses, secret levels, harder levels, challenge runs. It’s the excitement you feel from discovering and getting new things that actually keeps people playing. roguelike devs need to remember that, it’s not beating the game that keeps people playing, cuz once they beat it they’ve got nothing left. it’s about the secrets and unlocks that allow you to keep beating it in different ways.

Even before I clicked on the video, my first thought was "this seems like the kind of game Adam would review" 😂 this has definitely piqued my interest!

I liked the concept, but yeah, it feels pretty lack of content and too repetitive. Also the design of everything is VERY similar to Blazing Beaks and probably that's why there are so many ducks of the same color in the first biome of the game (like the reference). BB wasn't a perfect game (especially first boss design xD), but I really enjoyed by how hard & different every run could be, because it always gives you a challenge because of cursed artifacts system. Also the levels was small and short, so you should be really accurate and react fast, because every shot is important. And here, in AKXolotl - the levels lasts much longer, the monsters have much more HP, but every run feels the same, it doesn't reward you by little challenges of cursed trinkets and even doesn't give you any other trinkets changing the gameplay at all. Grinding of resources isn't enjoyable, growing of ak-xolotls is too easy, only obtaining of them is kinda fun, but that's only good point of the game, and even that wasn't make good enough to continue play.

Also, the price is too high for now. I don't know why they just didn't make the start price lower for their product -> add the content -> make the price higher. Now it costs like CoTL, but it's not a level of CoTL (however, CoTL was also designed badly in rogue-lite aspect, especially the difficulties).
I would like to buy it for ~15$ just for collection and to support the project, but 25$ seem to be too high. (I'm living in a country, where the price of product is a thing, and 25$ price for me feels like ~45-50$ for you)

Reminds me a lot of Blazing Beaks, which isn't bad.

Looks neat, but I've always felt like this game looks like Blazing Beaks but without artifacts.

It looks fantastic but it’s gonna be impossible to dethrone GUNGEON. That game is perfection and generally so good that it made me check this out just cause it reminded me of it and I always want more

Never heard of this game but as soon as i got the notification i said to my friend as a joke that i think it's probably like binding of Isaac but i guess it actually is 😂

I already decided to buy before watching but after I saw the minimum wielding bear I made sure to own it before watching the rest haha
