Bhagwan ka diya sabkuch hain. Daulat hain, Sahurat hain, power hain, bas ek desi jet engine...😸

And the best part is, GHATAK will have a very high level of indigenous content, making it a true Indian UCAV in real meanings. Hope after Dry Kaveri, Wet Kaveri will also exceed it's expectations.

Indian airforce procurement Process-

1-Indian Airforce sees prototype
2- Airforce Rejects the prototype due to lack of latest technology
3- Prototype gets upgrades in some years
4- Airforce rejects the prototype due to lack of lastest technology
5- Prototype gets upgraded in few years
6- Airforce rejects again

Story of Tejas and rustam in a nutshell

They waste 5-6 years of window between every major geopolitical issues and then find themselves surrounded by problems.

The most important aspect of this development is the induction of the dry Kaveri engine into Ghatak. Once we have a fully functional engine, we will be able to create better engines in future iterations, and within the next 20 years, we will master engine technology.

Drones and saturation strikes have changed the nature of warfare. My feeling is that manned fighters have at most 15 to 20 more years with advent of AI and more effective drones. Perhaps the future is man-machine teaming or fully autonomous

That’s great news, but let’s not blame IAF’s present condition entirely on current supply-chain issues. Decision makers instead of looking at the larger & 10-15 yr picture, let themselves influenced by “too expensive” or “Aatma-Nirbhar” narratives, & though there‘a nothing wrong with those ideas, Defence planning should have considered the risks of delay or technological denial scenarios.

MUM-T concept is now almost possible and we will see its implementation within 2 to Maximum 3 years (2027). After that mass production and gradual upgrade. Kaveri will enter the picture and continue to improve with additional R&D funds, while self-sufficiency will be maintained as a result of the Ghatak UCAV order.

Sir I have been thinking of asking this question to you people for a long time.

I know that a UCAV can not replace a fighter jet. But it's better than not having a fighter jet.

So considering the current situation can't we ( the IAF and GOV) acquire 6 UCAVs to perform the roles of 1 fighter jet ?

I know this won't solve the problem but atleast mitigate it to some extent.

As the Ghatak can use indigenous kaveri engine.
Should we( the IAF and GOV) ramp up its development and produce it in enormous numbers ?

Data for stealth improvement and our kaveri flying. Yayyy.. win-win for everyone involved. Should be seen as a platform to learn more for future projects too. Order in huge numbers are needed.

Wow, it will be a game changing if it will produce in a full scale.

India must focus on CATS warrior, Ghatak, Swift .. these platforms will enable IAF to manage their squadron strength and maintain the status quo in the region. And yes, HALE & MALE drones as well. I hope Archer Ng will clear the hurdles without any fuss from iaf.

India should put all it's focus on unmanned aerial attack vehicles like Ghatak and defence systems like Iron dom .
. Be real no one is going to drive a jet into warzone in the future. It will all be about Defence systems vs unmanned vehicles .
Jet will just be a liability too expensive too havvy carrying a human seat and all the control systems. Removing the cockpit gives more space for more weapons smaller size = more stealth etc. etc. more range also .

Let's wait and watch. Hopefully it doesn't end up like most Indian projects...delays and finally a product that doesn't meet the requirements.

Ghatak seems to be a good tactical solution for the time being as IAF sorts out the issues relating to Tejas 1A. And in due course, its next version may be even more deadly and can help IAF in the attack roles. Good news on the defense front after the SSBN news. And finally Kaveri is working!!!
