Insane Backhand Power in 3 Steps (Two-Hander)
Generating power on the two-handed backhand in tennis is not always easy.
In this free tennis lesson, Coach Simon Konov of Top Tennis Training will show you how to create insane backhand power in 3 simple steps.
The KEY To Power - to create power on any stroke, you need to build racket head speed. Without RHS, you'll struggle to generate power.
For the two-handers out there, creating power on the backhand means using the major muscle groups to help you accelerate the racket effectively.
How To Create Power on The Two-Handed Backhand
The swing - does your swing allow you to build racket head speed in an effortless way? Or does your swing limit the amount of space you have?
Reaching an ideal power position is key in producing power as you'll have space to build great racket head speed.
Coiling The Body - When preparing for the backhand, do you coil your upper body and store energy in the trunk muscles? Think about throwing a heavy medicine ball, you need to twist the upper body and untwist as you toss the ball. The same motion is paramount on the two-hander.
Body weight Transfer - Do you fall off the shot when you make contact? That's a great way to lose power and stability on your backhand. Try to lean into the ball as you make contact, which will give you more power as you are transferring energy into the ball.
