This was the moment that Aizen used to make Hirako think that he was a manageable threat. If you are strong, confuse your enemy by appearing weak. Aizen was playing 3-D chess after all in a scheme that took centuries to complete. Even Aizen admitted that Hirako treating him coldly aided in Aizen doing things under his radar that an otherwise more interested captain would've noticed.

Shinji is one of those badass characters who even tried to fail Aizen's plans even though failed because Aizen just thought of the box. Shinji deserved some retribution due to that..but the author decided to do him dirty after the Aizen's battle arc
