Using flames to identify elements.

Flame tests are an experimental procedure tat we use to identify metals and their ions. When metal salts are heated in a flame, they emit a characteristic set of coloured lines, called line emission spectrum. These line spectra show that light is effitted only at specific wavelengths. Every element has a unique emission spectrum.
