This song is so special.

3 years ago, I was at my lowest. I was 23, living in a foreign country in the far east and was away from my family and friends. I was struggling to make something of myself at the time and it seemed like no matter how hard I tried, literally everyone else around me was flourishing and I was facing one massive failure after another. I'm not gonna go into details but it seemed like no matter how hard I tried, I could not catch a break and it got to a point where I accepted that this was going to be my life. It's so hard to describe that feeling to someone who hasn't hit rock bottom, you know? For me, the most shocking revelation was that "giving up" is something I took for granted and it's not always available when you need it - sometimes you just have to keep pushing through it. How hard you work isn't good enough. How badly you want things to change isn't good enough. You can't help but arrive at the conclusion that maybe it's ultimately you who's not good enough. I literally felt like I was the smallest human being.

I used to listen to this song and disconnect for a few minutes everyday. Looking back, I think it gave me the motivation I needed to keep fighting my fight. I told myself everyday that I'm a fighter, fighting that critical voice inside and that I'll bounce back with vengeance. It became a ritual to listen to this song first thing everyday, read some uplifting comments on this video and then I was ready to start another day.

Just about 3 years later, almost without even realizing I find myself in very different circumstances. I'm writing this from my skyscraper apartment, I have a successful career (for my age, I think), I have people around me who care for me and I am objectively so much happier in life. If you asked me where I'd be 3 years ago, this would not have been my wildest guess.

Funny how powerful a song can be.

So to the person listening to this at a time when they feel like they are being tested - you are NOT alone. Please keep your head up, don't let anyone make you think that you aren't good enough, and even though life is giving you sh*t now, all this suffering will make success taste that much better.
