I came here for some actual Android 15 features but I am disappointed with all the AI fuss 💀

So basically security and Ai improvements. Nothing that makes the OS / Ui fun and

It's sad and worrying to see that AOSP is getting less and less of these features. More and more, these new "Android features" are "Pixel" features. I don't care about AI features, I don't, if I get a phone with them, the first thing I'll do is immediatly turn off as much of that stuff off. Once you take all of the AI and Pixel exclusive stuff off of the table, what's left? Not much. It's a basic release, with very few things added to Android and/or AOSP as a whole. As was Android 14. As was Android 13.

I scroll straight past Google's AI search results. Every time.

Google hasn't done anything special for years. Except Material UI & Introducing some privacy settings in installments.
Android OS still lacks some basic features & improvements.
e.g
1) It doesn't need hardware resources like Desktop PC but OS Optimisation.
2) We have to install third party Apps or plugins for basic tasks e.g. Backing up & restoring all data in new Phone, view Real Time Network Speed, Shortcuts etc. There are some stocks app (like media player) they are not very useful even lacks basic features & settings.
3) We can't restrict third party apps to using network. This makes Privacy Permissions powerless.

Perfect timing! Literally looking for your videos yesterday. And after searching for your name on YouTube I just got decade old content. Forgot you were at XDA.

Anyone know when the Gemini app will be available here in the UK? At the moment we have to use the web version.

The only thing I'm kinda excited for is edge to edge enforcement and that's it

Will Gemini rewrite my browsing history?

In an era where we should start gaining more control on ourselves, we are ending up giving more control to the computer. Scary times ahead

No, we need backwards compatibility. There's a bunch of apps I can't use anymore that are on the app store or they need to update all the apps force update them

Idk if latest android is always better. They pretty much lock down the phones a tiny bit more with each update, making some tasks like flashing, rooting etc. much more difficult, if not impossible. Soon we will get Apple level of freedom.

If Android really wants to keep the ecosystem alive they should make those feature available to all android devices and not just pixel device only

So when can we expect android 15 ? I’m guessing it will roll out at different times for different devices?
I have a pixel 8 pro.

But Gemini can't do basic Assistant functions. I would much rather be able to set reminders, send a message, take a note than any of the AI stuff.

Can Sony Xperia 1 VI has Gemini do the Apple Intelligence thing that it can correct your sentences, find and plan stuffs base on your data and so on?

Hello, is there a way to change the notification dot on a Pixel to display the number of unread messages instead?

Gemini as default Assistant on Android right now:
"Hey Google, turn on the table light and then turn off the sofa light"
"Sorry, I can't interact with physical objects..."

But works fine when doing one task at a time:
"Hey Google, turn on the table light" works fine.
