I remember that very well. Here’s a little fact you don’t hear about in the media:
I lived in Lunada Bay at that time. It is just above the cliffs above the ocean where the surfers went. My brother came running in the house screaming that he was waiting for a wave, when all of a sudden, the fog cleared and the side of a huge ship was right next to him. 😳
The news caught it and it was all over LA news that night. We were then swarmed by hundreds of people that wanted to see it. They slept in people’s backyards and ran through property and knocked on doors if they wanted something. The women on my street were terrified! We were a tiny little town and the kids only knew their neighbors. The PV police department (6 guys 😂) showed up on the second day and convinced everybody to leave immediately.
San Pedro, Watts and Inland city residents basically invaded our space!
I’ve always stopped and looked at the Dominator. It took 70 years for it to disappear.

born and raised till i was 14 very close to there @ Pt Fermin...we used to hike/slide down there and climb on it at low tide
