There's something I found in the files of the PR version of this game (they might exist in other versions, I don't know) that I've not seen anyone talk about. There are two unique unused NPC sprite sheets, one is of an older character with white hair/hat and glasses and the other appears to be a woman with long brown hair and a green outfit. It's been a while since I've looked at them, so I don't remember the file names, but I find it odd that I can't find any information about them.

Going from Mystic Quest to FF6 on snes as a kid was mind blowing. This game got me into the golden age of snes rpgs.

Aww, I was hoping since on the subject of cut content I was hoping you would let people know about the Final Fantasy VI Special Track Album in which contains 2 unreleased Town songs fully composed by Nobuo Uematsu. It sounds like they may of been completed very early as it sounds a bit FF5 in terms of audio quality then it does FF6 especially when compared to official Town songs like "Kid runs through the City". If my memory is right, I have yet to see anybody cover this album and the mystery of these 2 tracks and what these 2 Towns could of been.

I'm still wondering the mystery of Siegfried and Ziegfried. What was up with these characters? And why was one pretending to be the other? It was never resolved. No back story or anything to go by.

This game should get the FF7 Trilogy treatment. I don't care if it takes 20 years. Why wouldn't you want a masterpiece to be center stage receiving top of the line graphics with such a rich story and characters that is waiting to be expanded upon and with such a vile villain. It will show how dark the game actually is especially when you know happens and the developers can make the world look hopeless and dying but there's a small light still burning refusing to give up.

Thanks for the info. This was my first FF way back when on the SNES. It's the FF I've always wanted remade; imagine the opera scenes with todays graphics, or the apocalypse cinematic. Such a pity, they've remade nearly all of the older FFs, but not this one for some odd reason. The original OST CD set is still in my collection, I play it during my art streams from time to time.

Ive played and beat this game too many times to count. When i was younger, like 10 years old, i would use vanish/doom on everything but as i got older i used other tactics, for a couple of reasons one being wanting a challenge the other because they removed that feature in other releases.

I could be all wrong about this, but from what I heard there was supposed to be four other characters.

1st. Relm's mother.... originally the story was that Relm's mother was lost with amnesia. You find her and Relm sparks her memory. She then joins the team to protect Relm. Her special move was called a mothers love that would heal the team and restore magic points ( like a tent ). But they tought the fact you can fully heal anywhere like that would make boss fights too easy. So they changed Relm's mom to be Gogo. Then later made Gogo be a stand alone character and made Relm's mother go bye bye and wrote her off as dead.

2nd. Imp robot.... in the auction house there is a imp robot you can bid on but you loose out to a guy that bids more then you can physically hold. Originally you could buy him and have it join the party and use the imp armor and weapons with him. His specialties were very strong physical attacks and was not affected by status ailments. Downside was he couldn't use magic and couldn't be healed by spells or potions. He had to use repair kits to be healed. They gave imp robot the boot when it was decided that repair kits were a pain in the butt.

3rd. Ghost.... on the phantom train there are ghosts that want to help you. Originally there was just one who joins your team permanently. It's specialty was possess. This ability if it made a successful hit would kill an enemy in one hit the downside was after possessing someone the ghost would return to the airship and you would need to go collect it from the airship again. The reason the ghost got the boot was the fact it was considered a major game breaker when you could win the game in one hit by possessing Kefka.

4th. Waitress....in one of the taverns there is a waitress that flirts with Cyan. Originally she was ment to join the group to follow him. Her specialty is unknowen. She got the boot because the story writers thought it would be tacky to have Cyan fall in love when he was still feeling the loss of his wife and son.

I would have much rather have a remake of 6 vs 7. As a adult and having traveled a little bit. I always found it great how people, that basically speak the same language, pronounce the same names. For me, as a kid, CELES was Ce-Les. You it is Cel-Es. Like the whole Tidus thing. It is Tie-Dus to me vs Tee-Dus.
I can give a reason for the unused casting animations. It was a coding issue. All usable members had all the animations. It came when the guest characters were coded. They coded that all party members had set animations to prevent bugs. So when you introduce characters that don't have the pixel data it grabs the closest one. It breaks all animations. So, no matter IF they can do it they have to have a animation to make all other work correctly. I hope this helps.

I imagine the merchant and soldier casting sprites exist because of that one Locke section early on where you get to use disguises... Although Locke doesn't use their sprites in battle and normally would never have access to magic at that point. They just made full sets of animations for both of them and their recolors.

FF3/6 is my favorite game of all time! I'd love to see an updated version. But at the same time, I hate the idea! Because I'd hate to see it ruined, somehow!

There is a bug in the super Nintendo version.
It's most notable for using Doom when casting vanish.
It is in fact possible to inflict immune statuses to creatures if you first vanish them.
Thus, it would be possible to petrify a blue dragon if you vanish it first on the SNES version.
Although that will probably not do anything.

FF6 is my all-time favorite FF and my 1st introduction into the FF series! Would love to see a modern remake to it like they did w/ FF7 but with more storyline behind each character.
