Any Idea why it jumps from one side of the top load to the other? A giant aluminum foil truck driving by?  seriously? probably following the "capacitive grounding mass" on the shelf?   Scott R

Well that's new.... Blowing at it! I didn't think it would react so much, it kinda moved like blowing at fire. I'm going to become an arc-ologist... when I'm a big boy.

..Well it's that time, I've made the ZVS pcb. I just got to put the 5+5 turns on the flyback ferrite and let her rip. The day is young.. I'm going for it dude, I love the smell of ozone in the morning ;) .. Not so keen on burning Fets, fingers crosses. I got some irfp640 as backup.. The local supplier didn't have any 250s. Take care fella

Wow, that's some serious power. I'm surprised a half-bridge of IRFP260N's can survive ground arcs at those power levels.

Are you using the older schematic of Steve's Mini SSTC that includes the 555 start-up oscillator? I assumed that ground arcs could cause the antenna feedback signal to drop out, or jump to a higher harmonic and cause large amounts of heat to be dissipated in the bridge. Perhaps the start-up pulse sent by the UCC driver IC's is enough to kick the coil into life if the feedback signal is interrupted.
