This Project by living Hope Adventures includes the cleaning of the less accessible beaches around Lantau Island, Hoi Ha and Cheung Chau. We do this by means of kayaks. Paddling to the areas that you cannot access by foot. Then collect as much rubbish both on the beaches and that floats in the ocean that we can carry out safely on the kayaks. The rubbish gets disposed at by the local dump site / removal site. We try not to use the closest rubbish bin as it will congest it for day to day users.
It is in our goal to have circumnavigated all the Hong Kong Islands by 2024 cleaning each one and to raise awareness to marine pollution.
We would also like to look at a more holistic solution. Identifying the cause (pollution), help to raise awareness of its affects and facilitate alternative systems.
We have worked on Lantau and Cheung Chau islands as well Hoi Ha in Sai Kung.
As our network of partners and volunteers grow we gain more possibilities with larger effect. It is not a goal a man can achieve by himself but rather through the vision of the correct team.
