I'd never heard of Mazzy Star before I met my girlfriend in the early 2000s. She introduced me to this music and I was stunned. I fell in love twice that year. My girlfriend was tragically killed while riding her motorcycle shortly after we'd moved in together. Hope's voice helped me navigate the sadness of life and loss. I still listen to fade into you and into dust often. Hope's vocals always take me back to a magical summer of overly vivid colors that included emerald green eyes and auburn waterfall curls. I'll always appreciate the gentle delivery and intelligent lyrics from this talented artist.
