Trump vow to weaponize DOJ against Bidens trips up case against Hunter: Analysis

Given Donald Trump's declared intent to use the Justice Department to target the Biden family if he regains office, and the fixation Republicans have on keeping a prosecutorial spotlight on Hunter Biden, it would not be surprising if Hunter Biden is seeking some assurances from the current federal prosecutors handling his case. Chuck Rosenberg, former U.S. attorney, explains how this and other factors complicated Hunter Biden's plea deal in court.

The gun charge is part of a law that conservatives are trying to overturn at the Supreme Court. The case is expected to be accepted in November and it is believed it will be overturned. Five of the nine justices have privately expressed opinions that the law is unconstitutional and should be reviewed. The plea deal would allow the guilty plea to be withdrawn if the law is overturned as expected. The government is being generous with the gun charges because the statute of limitations has run out on the tax charges. (3 years) The taxes were paid when they were due. He filed his tax returns 3 days late, 2 times. He received a refund both times. They investigated his taxes going back to 2014. This is all that they could come up with, that he filed returns late twice. If it was anyone else, they never would have bothered.
