No in Australia, a bicycle when riding in a pedestrian area (the footpath, or shared path) are required to keep left and give way to pedestrians. (there are fines, and if you have a drivers licence they can deduct points off your licence for breach of road rules)
Doesn't mean it will happen, they can be pushy and even outright dangerous especially when they are paying too much to their GPS than the footpath.

Technically it's the cyclist's fault. Where I live here in Australia (state of Victoria), cyclist are supposed to be on the bike lanes or share the road with the motorist. So unless the footpah is a shared for bicycle and pedastrian footpath, the cyclist shouldn't be on where Bae is walking unless Bae is on a shared footpath or Bae is walking in the miidle of the road/bike lane. There are fines for cyclist if they don't follow this law.

There is a common sense rule everywhere.
Sidewalks is for pedestrians and should always give way to people first. Cause you can do more damage if you do cause accidental harm.
If there is a bike lane, then the lane is intended for the bike use, so the cycler can expect that there will be no one walking. Thus they can ride as they like.
However if there is no bike lane and cyclers are to share with walkers, then the cycler are to stop and push their bike around the walker. Not the walker to dodge the cycler.
People are not supposed to move out of the way cause you have no where else to go. Are you going to go into the street?

For some reason cyclists seem to think road laws don't apply to them most of the time. Despite having bike lanes they sometimes ride on the sidewalk rather than walk thier bike like they're supposed to. They also have a habit of ignoring traffic lights. I've seen a lot of them blow through red lights and have had them cut in front of me while crossing the street at the cross signal.

"I'm walkin here" is a new york meme ya?

That cyclist was just being an asshole.
When i ride a bike it's always preferable for pedestrians to behave consistently and predictable.
Its just more dangerous when they try to dodge in random directions.

(former professional level cyclist, speaking as a permanent citizen of Australia).

In Australia you as a pedestrian don't give way to cyclist, but it is the responsibility of a cyclist to worn pedestrian of their approach from behind.

& if you stick to the left when oncoming you won't have a collision issue.

But when able a cyclist is supposed to be on the tarmac with the cars, even if a bike lane is unavailable, ( obviously excluding Motorways).

So unless that side walk is specifically marked as a shared zone, you don't need to give way.

However always keep in mind that there are bad apples in every group category, so you should take the better safe than sorry approach regardless.

That meme comes from a movie with Dustin Hoffmann called Midnight Cowboy and it was not in the script, they filmed on a busy street and a cab driver nearly hit hoffman and the co star while crossing it. He angrily responded with that sentence, hit the hood of the cab and kept arguing with the driver, then continued the scene, using an improvised a line like the boss he is.

As an Aussie. Honestly I agree with Bae and I guess Japan here.
It's safer if the slower moving of the 2 doesn't move and is 'predictable'. Same concept when racing in say multi class or something.

No, Bae was in the right. The delivery person should have given way, especially if they were both on the sidewalk. Unfortunately here in Aus delivery people can be quite aggressive

Nah the guy on bike needed to go around her, that guy was being rude as fuck

Poor Bae being gaslit by negligent bike riders 😢

it is not a matter only of rules, (in Spain bicycles technically can't go on the sidewalks) but if you are riding a bicycle you are more likely to hurt someone therefore you are the one that has to take extra care when around people walking its the same logic that aplies to cars and bikes and bicycles, the car has to take extra care to not disturb the lighter vehicles and cause an accident

Cyclists in pedestrian zones definitely have to give way to pedestrians in Australia. The delivery bike was in the wrong

Thats just that person. im in Australia, and Bikes give way to people where I live.

In America the cyclists are supposed to be in the bike lane, and if there's no bike lane, they're supposed to be in the road. Sidewalks are *supposed* to be strictly for foot traffic, and bikes are *supposed* to follow road rules as if they were a car when in both bike lanes and when on the road, but cyclists here are nearly universally a-holes that do whatever they want and then get mad at you when you inconvenience them by attempting to follow the rules.

Bae: "Ive come to the realization that I may be better suited to live in Japan"

Of course, it would make sense for a JP talent to live in Japan.

While both cyclist and pedestrian are responsible in putting the effort to try and avoid any accidents, the weight of responsibility is or should be weighted more heavily on the cyclist when they are riding on the sidewalk intended for walking pedestrians. Vice versa if they are on the bike lane.
