Sparrows Dark Shift Expansion Kit

The Dark Shift kit along with the expansion set is my daily carry pick kit. I added a set of warded lock picks and a few extra tension tools. Along with a homemade decoder and a couple pieces of wiper insert. Together, those take care of most anything I run into.

Yes I have one and the expansion kit. I must admit I don’t really use the expansion tools much. The hooks I put clear shrink wrap around to add comfort and still see the cool cutouts. I don’t have to use them for real lockouts more than once in a blue moon but they are a nice set for practice when I’m at work and bored.

I carry the dark shift with the expansion set with the sparrows Rockout jigglers added along with a homemade decoding shim and two southord hooks. Its a bit of a tight fit in the pouch but it fits comfortable in the back pocket.

I bought the two expansion kits with the dark shift kit which makes a brilliant combination there is a bent tension tool kit too which I have on order looking forward to trying

I just bought this kit as a backup to my regular picks and as a sort of travel kit. For comparison sake, I have the sparrows monstrum XXL, the multipick elite 37, and some various hooks from Peterson in government steel that make up my selection of pics for my workbench. I was honestly blown away at how comfortable the dark shift kit is to use, especially for not having handles. This is my first set of lock picks without handles and I was just astonished at how comfortable they were to use. I'm really glad that I bought them and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a backup or EDC style kit.

The two items one might add to the set would be a tiny/flat flashlight, and a small screwdriver good for disassembling locks.
In the case of the kit being a Tuxedo from Sparrows or similar this becomes especially challenging as the case is very flat.
The final thing I add is a plastic shim (NanoPlastic or Mica Sheets). You can 1/2 cut the top end and fold it over the pick points.
This gives you pocket protection from pick pokes and a handy shim/jim if it should be needed. My Tux is boosted with Wizard, Octorake, and Dragon rakes.

Its a good comprehensive set, especially with the expansion. And my personal opinion, can't beat those sparrows cases for an EDC option. Great review sir! 👍🏻👍🏻

Very nice review thank you, but there are 2 more things I would add to this kit.
First is a "goat wrench". You see tubular locks everywhere, a bulky tubular impression tool is not feasible as an everyday carry, but slipping a goat wrench in there let's you spp tube locks.
The second item I would add is an offset snake rake, but that's just my own personal thing...I love my offset snake.

Was thinking about the expansion kit but scrap the wafer jigglers, I find the triple peak, worm or city rake even their best buster would pick any wafer lock. That being said I would've liked to see your goat wrench divided into 2 with warded pick ends with one having either tubular tensioner in the thickness your goat wrench came in. Just my opinion stay safe Ash!

I personally love my dark shift set, especially the hybrid profile that I believe is only available in it and the monstrum. Haven't gotten the expansion yet, still on my list. Thanks for the review, I've been wondering how good the wafer picks were.
