🦅 Ever wondered if you can pet a falcon? In today's video, we're diving into the fascinating world of falconry to answer that very question! Meet Dolph and Churro, our two adorable American Kestrel falcons, each with their own unique personalities and preferences when it comes to human interaction.

👉 Dolph is an imprint bird, meaning he was raised by humans from a very young age. As a result, he's more comfortable with human touch and interaction.

👉 Churro is a passage bird and she was captured from the wild as a juvenile. She has a different perspective on being petted and is generally more reserved.

bro, I appreciate the direct information, many other youtube channels would stretch all the information you shared in this over an 8 minute video with over editing, thanks man!

It is amazing to me how much birds (and animals in general, really) can adapt to tolerate interaction with humans. To understand such an abstract thought really demonstrates how intelligent these falcons are. Blows me away.

This video was fascinating. I hope you do a follow up video explaining how you've trained these beautiful predators to be your hunting partner, and how they behave so well with you partnership.

That was definitely what I call "The biggest question that I needed to be answered"! So now, what's the solution to improve Churro's tolerance of you? Granted, its never going to be 100% like with Dolph, but I do believe having him hunt as a cast will help slightly! After spending many months in the wild out alone after he left on his own as a fledgling, he needs a partner on his side!

Somewhere in the world, out of millions of Kestrels, there's Kestrels with thousands of different personalities, even though I'm sure most are the same, just fearful of people or just see them as a distraction! I don't know of any Falconers that have such a strong bond with any trapped bird of prey as you do with Dolph, but there's a few that came close! But these birds could have had some instance where someone were watching them up close while in the nest. Who knows how the birds built more tolerance, but I imagine the earlier you trap them, the more tolerant they'd be. The downfall to an early trapping would be that you'd have a bird that feels more needy when its hungry! It would be hard to convince a bird to leave the Falconer after releasing it!
