Thank you so much for this. I had gotten a new laptop a little over a week ago & had been trying to figure out what was causing this problem. My older laptop never did that with the external drive, so I was trying to figure out for the longest time what the problem was. I had a feeling it was some sort of power saving setting that was doing it, but I never knew how to check. I grew up on much older OSes (98, XP & an old Xerox DOS computer were my 1st PC experiences), so there are some things that I'm still learning with newer OSes. I am fairly computer savvy, but this was a 1st for me.

Thank you so much for this video! When editing video in Davinci Resolve, this "power management" would either make the file I was working on corrupt or force me to restart the program. Such a pain!

I updated the bios on my motherboard and ever since then I started getting the USB disconnected/reconnected sound and it was so annoying. This fixed my issue, thank you!

But how do I know which device is causing this problem to be actually be able to un-install this?
This happened before and it is back to this same USB noise again. Windows is a big collection of dirt and constantly malfunctioning :(
I want to go fully Mac.

followed the same steps like in the video but none of my usb options has the power saving check marked on.

what is the other way to fix it?

I was getting this when certain software was open and when I tried to share my screen on MS Teams. Motherboard BIOS firmware update solved this for me. Noticed a fix for USB devices had been implemented since the last time I updated the BIOS. Couldn't believe it worked!

If you're experiencing random connect-disconnect issues with Bluetooth, try using a Bluetooth dongle. This happened with my laptop's internal Bluetooth as well. My Bluetooth speaker keeps disconnect randomly. The internal Bluetooth enters 'eco' mode and is like 'sleeps' when switching between applications. Using a Ugreen Bluetooth 5.3 dongle resolved the issue for me, keeping the Bluetooth connection stable and always on. Now I do not have problems with my Bluetooth audio. Good luck!
