Once a bill is served, that's when the court gets involved and an RJI (Request for Judicial Intervention) is filed. This asks for the court to get involved and they will usually schedule what's known as a preliminary conference where they are able to lay out a discovery schedule. This schedule allows your lawyers to lay out the plan for exchanging information for the case.
