What they don't seem to want to tell people is that once you get outside of our magnetosphere you have no protection from Cosmic Rays(Gamma bursts etc.)

I agree and I don't know more than what you've said. It is clear that the incoming something did seem to trigger a pretty big burp from the sun. What amazes me still is that the incoming object was the size of a flea, maybe smaller comparison to the sun and yet it had such a colossal effect. That needs to be explored.

That tropical low you pointed out in the Eastern Pacific has been making rain here in Cabo this morning. Our surface level humidity went up yesterday afternoon as the first wave in the form of an outfall reached us. Our sea temperature across Lands End is approaching it's maximum of around 32C on the East Cape & at 30C on the Pacific Cape. The 32C temp in the Gulf of California is drawing the formation of tropical rains to the north.

Generally the more color in a sunrise or sunset is caused by particulate matter in the air. The more 'stuff' in the air, the more colorful the sunrise/sunset.
