Risto za Namba Nane (8) | The Lady with the Codes

Nairobi, Kenya. Africa’s Silicon Savannah is home to a $ 1 billion tech scene working to solve problems through tech. Renice Owino, a 25-year old single-mother and coder from Kibera, is one of them. In Episode 1 of Risto za Namba Nane, she tells us her story: How she came to teach kids in Kibera how to code; and how COVID-19 has affected her. Before COVID-19 she used to teach Kids in Kibera how to code from her house. Now she had to find another way: With schools closed she didn’t want the kids to lose their coding classes too, so she decided to continue to teach them one-on-one from their homes.
