Physics 24A Heat Conduction Examples (2 of 22) Metals in Parallel

We will find a) the heat flow=?, and b) fraction=? of heat flows through each metal of a steel pipe surrounded by a copper pipe in parallel where one end of the 2m pipe is at T=100-degree C and other end at T=0-degree C.

I don't understand why these metals are in parallel and not in series. I did a similar example in class and we treated the cylinder as a series of material.
