Join Jeff Zweerink and David Block as they discuss new discoveries taking place at the frontiers of science that have theological and philosophical implications, including the reality of God’s existence.

Hubble’s Theft & Other Scientific Inaccuracies
The data showing the expansion of the universe is usually referred to as Hubble’s law. However, historical studies show that astronomer Edwin Hubble used others’ research without proper attribution in writing his paper on the subject in 1929. In 2018, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) officially voted to rename it the Hubble-Lemaître law since astronomer Georges Lemaître published a paper on the same subject in 1927, two years before Hubble. We will discuss the implications and apologetic value of this development as well as other common science/faith related misconceptions.

Yes, something needs to be done about knocking Edwin Hubble down a few notches or two in the history books with an explanation of his plagiarism.

You've made a convincing argument that Edwin Hubble gets undeserved credit. But how serious is this problem? All scientists stand on the shoulders of those who came before. It is simply human nature for some of these to claim more credit for themselves and fail to recognize the importance of previous work. I like that you mentioned Max Tegmark, Jeff. His book is one of my favorites both for the taxonomy of multiverses and for another important and relevant feature. I love the way he describes his collaborations with other scientists and mathematicians. He obviously rejoices in the collective work of science. I think picking on Hubble is wasted energy. We should rejoice in the work of scientists like Bohr and Tegmark who freely acknowledge whose shoulders they stand on. In science there are far, far more of these.

I'm not trying to be a negative Nancy, but I believe that RTB has a genuine problem with their fine tuning model due to Baryon number conservation. Proton decay has never been observed and all of the experiments looking for proton decay have only forced theoretical physicists to push back the upper limit of proton decay to ten to the 33.

Jesus was offered all the kingdoms of the world if he would just bow in worship to the devil. Jesus had no nature that would respond to that temptation, but as an example for us responds that only God should be worshipped. What the devil offered has an expiration date. By worshipping the true God, he will find the God has the power to set things straight in the judgement. Lemaitre will get his due and Hubble stripped of his honor. Live for “that day”, not for this time which passes away as a vapor.
