Please do not judge why this PRECIOUS BABY, was in such terrible shape!!
I have had Poodles all my life. The last 15 years, we had 2 pure breads, a Maltese/poodle mix and a Bichon/poodle mix, all of which had to go to the Groomer. They went every 6 weeks. That is a lot of money and physically taxing to get them there, if you aren’t a young person.
We moved back to our home state, so we had to find new Vet, new Groomer, etc. my oldest Poodle no longer went to the vet for shots, they weren’t worth it, based on his age and risk factor being so low. The Covid hit, spot became impossible to find a new groomer. If I found one, they wouldn’t take a dog that didn’t have up to date shot records. They understood why he no longer got shots, but wouldn’t take him anyway. I needed a mobile groomer. Even though we live in a very large Metro, everyone suddenly wanted to use them…
So, I start watching YouTube videos on how to groom each breed that I had. I bought a grooming table, several different clipper sets that are specifically for Dog grooming, found out the scissors that come with them suck, so got several sets of those, I was doing a decent job, actually getting pretty decent at it and out of nowhere, I wake up in the ICU!! I had been there 11 days, had been on a vent for 7 of those days. I had also been having Dialysis. I was in Congestive Heart Failure, Kidney Failure… my world was turned upside down. Long story short, I have since then, been in the Hospital about 8 more times, we lost our Maltese to Diabetes, she lived 8 years after her diagnosis, she had to have 2 shots a day of human insulin for the rest of her life. My oldest poodle passed of CHF and his Kidneys failed. The last 7 years of his life he had to take medication for his thyroid, 2 x a day. He passed 2 months shy of his 17 th bday. We just had to out our Bichon down, she got breast cancer. Two years ago, my Dad passed, 2 days later our Maltese died suddenly at home of a heart attack. The day we put my Dad in the ground I went downhill, went to the Hospital, I was there 3 days, was going to be released that day, Father’s Day, I suddenly couldn’t tell the nurse what I was trying to say, then couldn’t move my arm. They called a stroke team and were taking me to get a CT and I had a Seizure! By the grace of God I had 2 nurses with me, because as soon as the seizure was over, I had a Cardiac Arrest. I was clinically dead. A nurse that was with me jumped up in the bed and started CPR, she was really good at it, because she brought me back. CPR I’d horrible!!! My breast bone and several ribs were broken in the process, I was put back on the vent. They had no idea if I had brain damage or how bad. I was diagnosed with PRES, it is very rare and most people don’t survive it. I had started having trouble with my vision at the funeral on Wednesday. I went to the hospital by ambulance early Thursday morning and this all happened early Sunday morning. PRES causes fluid and pressure to build up on your brain in the back of your brain, the part that controls your vision. That’s why I couldn’t see right st the funeral. I was also full of Blood Clots. It took me 8 months to get over the CPR alone. I’m very lucky to be alive, and tests showed no permanent brain damage. Thank God!! But all of the things I have gone through has taken a real toll on me. I have a 5 lb. Full blood poodle who will be 13 next month. And as all this has happened to me, my husband had scar tissue grow around his intestines and kink them like a garden hose, it caused his stomach to flip backwards. He had to have emergency surgery and was in the Hospital and in patient rehab for 59 days. Then 6 more weeks of in home rehab. We have been through it, and our Precious little Fur baby, who we absolutely adore, is a matted mess like the little baby in this video. So please don’t judge, to look at our baby, she looks unloved, which is the furthest thing from the truth. Did I mention that I desperately need double knee replacement, but because of my heart and kidneys, they have not cleared me to have the surgery. I can only stand up for about 5 minutes. After about 2 minutes I’m in agony. Get to the 5 minute mark, I have tears running down my face. Also, I had to have emergency knee surgery in September, I developed an infection and it went septic, I had that surgery 9:-1-24, on 10-4-24 we were told my Mother had Pancreatic cancer, the very aggressive one that is hitting so many, even children, in people who took the jab, I didn’t. Mom did. She died in my arms 25 days later.
So PLEASE don’t judge, that all dogs that get in this bad shape because they are not wanted. I live my baby so much, she has been right by my side through all of this. She has helped me live.
Wish me luck. I’m going in to bath her and groom in her now. 🙏💕🙏
